Message from the Founder

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

  1. Wisdom from above - There is wisdom from above and wisdom from below. The wisdom above, from heaven is the wisdom which is from God. “The Lord gives wisdom from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding” Prov. 2:6. The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits without partiality hypocrisy and,. “ James 3:17.
  2. Wisdom from the world. - The wisdom from below is the wisdom from the world. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic”. James 3:1. This wisdom the worldly people and the devil have it in common. This wisdom is the source of envy, jealousy, discord, quarrel, lying, confusion and all kinds of wicked and evil things.
  3. The fear of the Lord - We fear the Lord if we love Him with respect and obey him like a child loves and obeys his father and mother. If we fear to think something to say or to conical, to do or to leave that what He displeases and on the other hand we desire to live so that we please Him that is from God.”Who is the man that fears the LORD Him shall He teach in the way he chooses’’. Ps 25:12.
  4. A Fool - We fear the Lord if we love Him with respect and obey him like a child loves and obeys his father and mother. If we fear to think something to say or to conical, to do or to leave that what He displeases and on the other hand we desire to live so that we please Him that is from God.”Who is the man that fears the LORD Him shall He teach in the way he chooses’’. Ps 25:12.
  5. A Wise Man- Is he or she who fears the Lord and obeys his commandments. The wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord, but it is also a fruit of the fear of the Lord. The wise man or woman is he or she who is taught by God through the Holy Spirit.                                                                                                                                                                                                        “The fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction” Proverbs 1:7.

Why we are the Best

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Admissions

Admission into JCSS is highly based on academic merit. We normally conduct entrance exams in July of every year to select the prospective students into JSS 1 to SS2. The entrance exam helps us to place each child accordingly in the classes. John Calvin Nursery and Primary school serves as feeder to our school especially in JSS 1.

Scholarship

John Calvin Secondary School also stands out among equals in awarding scholarships to students of different background without prejudice. The scholarship is mostly for the children from the poor parents that cannot afford the cost of education for their children. The students with outstanding academic records are also offered the scholarship.

Acadmics

We are sharing our world with innovations and reserach, with our elite crop of Acadmics breaking new grounds through staff with outstanding academic qulifications and experince.

NABTEB/Voc. Centre

The vocational unit of John Calvin Secondary School is a section of the school which focuses on training of the students in different skills. This is in line with the new curriculum of the Federal Government which is aiming at producing students who will be self-reliant after graduation. However, JCSS Oswanka is now Federal Government Approved Centre for NABTEB Examination.

Spiritual Life

John Calvin Secondary School is established for the purpose of leading the Nigeria Reformed Church and other children in the way of the Lord. The Reformed faith should permeate the teaching and learning of the school.

Counseling

The unit is created to help the students make right choice in life especially as it relate to their academic and spiritual lives. The staff in the section counsel the students on the right subjects to choose in the senior classes critically looking at their interest and what they intend to be in the future. They are morally guided against any immoral acts.

Testimonies

"I can positively say JCCSS has made me a better person. It has helped me develop a positive attitude towards my studies and discover more about myself. Teachers are very caring and interested in students’ well-being. They make sure every class is fun, educational and interactive."

Obulose  Chidiebere N.
CEO  Cloudroid ICT

I have always felt that I was so lucky to be a student at JCCSS, and not at any other private or public schools. The thing I admire the most about JCCSSl is the support I received from everyone at the school. I wouldn't have been able to achieve what I have achieved without that caring environment."
