Admission into JCSS is highly based on academic merit. We normally conduct entrance exams in July of every year to select the prospective students into JSS 1 to SS2. The entrance exam helps us to place each child accordingly in the classes. John Calvin Nursery and Primary school serves as feeder to our school especially in JSS 1.
John Calvin Secondary School also stands out among equals in awarding scholarships to students of different background without prejudice. The scholarship is mostly for the children from the poor parents that cannot afford the cost of education for their children. The students with outstanding academic records are also offered the scholarship.
We are sharing our world with innovations and reserach, with our elite crop of Acadmics breaking new grounds through staff with outstanding academic qulifications and experince.
The vocational unit of John Calvin Secondary School is a section of the school which focuses on training of the students in different skills. This is in line with the new curriculum of the Federal Government which is aiming at producing students who will be self-reliant after graduation. However, JCSS Oswanka is now Federal Government Approved Centre for NABTEB Examination.
John Calvin Secondary School is established for the purpose of leading the Nigeria Reformed Church and other children in the way of the Lord. The Reformed faith should permeate the teaching and learning of the school.
The unit is created to help the students make right choice in life especially as it relate to their academic and spiritual lives. The staff in the section counsel the students on the right subjects to choose in the senior classes critically looking at their interest and what they intend to be in the future. They are morally guided against any immoral acts.
